Info

The idea of this contest is to promote trying new things and showing the personalities you have created with your characters!
This is a contest run by TioTheBeetle and Artception(sparsely, as I am away) with the help of Pix3M with the color palette.

How is it being judged?

After last summers contest I have found a site I can use to host for the voting process but I want everyone to vote under this criteria if you can.
IF I CATCH ANY PEOPLE ENTERING TO BEG FOR VOTES I WILL KICK YOU OUT OF THE CONTEST :D
I don't mean to be rabid about this but I don't want this to overflow from some person begging for votes because it's really truly not fair. I have faith that :icondigitalponyocs: members are above such nonsense but I just want to make this clear:
:bulletorange: Don't vote on artistic skill. This group is for learning, not for who is the best Picasso. The idea is to reward for trying new thing
:bulletorange: Vote on how well they stuck to the color palette
:bulletorange: Vote on originality of the oc's personality
:bulletorange: How well do you think they did, have they improved? See if the person you're voting for learned from the contest at all :3

The Deadline

August 28th (Due to time-zones I will leave extra time so August 2nd has finished in all zones)

The Prize

(Point's and Drawing donations are being accepted)
(still deciding on the exact number but it will be above 1000 :points:)

How to Submit

ONLY SUBMIT YOUR ENTRIES HERE SO THEY CAN BE CONFIRMED digitalponyocs.deviantart.com/…

The General Rules

:bulletorange: One submission per person
:bulletorange: It has to be digital (we are a digital pony group :P)
:bulletorange: No bases, or pony creator type things
:bulletorange: I know some of your OCs aren't exactly ponies (ie Griffons, Giraffes, torch hounds ect) We will accept these too
:bulletorange: If you enter you must advertise the contest either by a journal or clearly stating the name of the contest in the entry (just do something to make the contest more heard)
:bulletorange: You can have as many ponies as you want in a scene and can use anyone elses OCs (provided you asked/they gave you permission) You can also use canon characters as long as you remember the picture is to show off your OC

Contest Specific Rules

There are 2 main rules you have to keep to enter the contest. :target: You need to follow BOTH rules to enter :target:

OC Pony Pride
The first rule is to show your OCs with pride and show them off to a personal level

What do I mean by this?
No bust shots/"lol ima stand here and look pretty" pictures. You need to show off your ponies personality in your picture and have it very clear who they are as a pony. I have hosted this group for quite a while now and I know a lot of your characters can do a lot more than just "sit pretty", a lot of them have wonderful stories and personalities we never get to see!
"But TTB I don't know how to show this!"
You can do this by showing what their job is, what their special talent is, what they don't like,  a fault they have or how they act towards other ponies, heck, create a whole new pony for the contest if you'd like!

Do whatever you need to do, comics, animations, Feel free to write stories and long winded descriptions if you need to go into detail! The more thought and care into it the better!

The idea is to show how much thought and care you have put into creating your OCs and ponysonas

Here are a few examples of what I mean to get you started

NOW GO SHOW OFF THAT PONY MAKING PRIDE!

Restricted Palette

What on earth is a restricted palette?

The best way to think of it is...
Think of it as a black and white picture, BUT WITH COLOR :yay:
The idea is you don't use the colors of your characters but rather focus on shading and lighting to make the picture awesome.

BUT TTB THIS IS WAY OUT OF MY SKILL LEVEL!1!one
Relax... I know a lot of us are still learning how to do shading properly, and I've thought about this and I came up with a solution.
For the entire duration of the contest I will stream lessons and tips on how you can draw for the contest. I will gladly help you individually if you need any help at all!
These live streams are being planned on both specific days and spurt of the moment times, so don't fret I will make it work for all time zones.

You don't have to do EXACTLY the colors shown, this is just a guideline, you can add a few more colors (don't go overboard) or alter the colors as needed as long as it generally fits the palette. We aren't gonna be that picky about it, don't worry.

I think the best way to explain this is to show you so here

AND NOW... THE PALETTE YOU WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH:

Ending statement

I know it seems like a lot but don't worry! I made it so you all can learn how to do these by the time of the contest!

If you have any questions please go ahead and note me TioTheBeetle or ask here :3

Seriously if you feel like you lack the skill to enter just note me saying something silly like "AH SUCK AT THIS, HALP ME" and I'll go right to work with you :3
